After the 9-month long incubation of the entrepreneurs at Rupandehi under the consortium partnership of Antarprerana, Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BuCCI), Lumbini Banijya Campus and Nepal’s Youth Entrepreneurs Forum Rupandehi (NYEF), a team from Antarprerana visited Rupandehi from 16 – 23 April 2021 to implement the remaining part of program which are as follows;
Business Model Canvas (BMC)
The 3-days Nava Udhyamshala session began with the master class on Business Model Canvas (BMC) on April 17th, 2021. The session was facilitated by Ms. Swechha Adhikari (Program Coordinator, Antarprerana), and Ms. Diksung Sherpa was in the session for the backup support.
The BMC session was later followed by the session on ‘Milestone’ also facilitated by Ms. Adhikari. The session was also joined by the group of students from Lumbini Banijya Campus (LBC) who have been working as startup fellows with the incubees/entrepreneurs in the compilation of several information required for the Business Plans.
The post-session was held on Deep dive session of Business Plan with Startup Fellows to work on several components of Business Plans as per the allocation of the groups to each entrepreneur.
The session on Investment Readiness was facilitated by Ms. Diksung Sherpa (Investment Associate, Antarprerana) with Ms. Swechha Adhikari as a backup support for the session. The engagement of incubees was mostly seen through their dealing with the confusions by asking related questions to the facilitator. The 2-hours session ended with various company valuation methods, and handling of Q&A from the entrepreneurs.
The session emphasized on several types of pitching, and their importance and implications to the entrepreneurs and their businesses. Also, preparing entrepreneurs for the Demo Day, the session emphasized on pitching to the prospect customers, partners and investors for their business.
On the very day, before the session was taken, a one-to-one interaction was done on Business Plan Compilation by both the facilitators with the entrepreneur. Alongside, with the plan to provide an opportunity for the startup fellows too to share their experience and learning throughout the process, multiple engagements were made with the startup fellows for the Pitching practice at the Lumbini Banijya Campus.
With the feedbacks on the pitching and Pitch Decks, adjustments were made accordingly by Ms. Adhikari and Ms. Sherpa.
The event was embraced by the gracious presence of representatives from all the Consortium partners including Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lumbini Banijya Campus (LBC), NYEF Rupandehi, and mentors, startup fellows, entrepreneurs. There was a total of 25 participants in the program.
A round of inspirational talk was given by the vice president of the NYEF Mr. Sumod Sainju where he shared about his struggles in the journey of entrepreneurship. Similarly, Mr. Madan Karki Executive Officer from BuCCI shared his remarks on the Nava Uddhyamshala program. Followed by the thoughts sharing from Dr. Tara Prasad Upadhyaya, Campus Chief of LBC.
The entrepreneurs presented their Business Ideas emphasizing on the WHY-factors of their businesses, and the business opportunities in Nepal. Most importantly, the session/meeting provided a platform for the entrepreneurs to openly ask the consortiums on what help they needed from the organizations present there. It was followed by a round of Pitch Deck on “Experience Sharing” presentation from the startup fellows. The two business mentors actively engaged in the program also shared their experience and learnings.
Finally, the session was officially ended with a short thank you speech from Mr. Khanal, and Ms. Shakya from Antarprerana, who were joining virtually from Kathmandu.
